Ok, so...my first impression of FFXIII-2 upon playing the demo still stands. But I decided to watch the playthrough on Youtube (for that and to watch FFXIII I highly recommend Hassan
's page. Best HD quality, includes only the important battles and no annoying commentary. Only thing you have to put up with is his logo at the corner but that is easily ignored.)
I'd forgotten Caius is voiced by Kain's VA. Boy, does that open mad crossover and AUs opportunities (and I can so picture the shipping bits.) Kain controlled by Chaos?
Although, Kain converted to hippism complete with purple hair dye, feathers and some winter boots that I see in the stores all the time
meant for women
? Yeah, I'll be at the corner giggling. That's SE fashion for you =D
Heck, I loved what they did to Snow's hair.
It's like his hairdresser has pictures of Gran Pulse chocobos in the catalogues as opposed to real people with different hairstyles xD
Yes, there is a FFXIII review I promised some time ago. You can clearly see my inspiration...

So, today when I was waiting for the bus there was a young pup walking around nearby. You could tell she was abandoned cuz she was so thin =/ When I returned from the supermarket she had left that troublesome place (it's rather dangerous with tons of cars crossing by) and I found her some ways ahead in my neibourhood. I fed her some bread that I got in my shopping bag and she followed me home. I left her outside since I wasn't sure I could take her in (still in dad's place so it's his call.) Tried to call the animal shelter but they don't have a phone number O_o (yeah don't even ask.)
But then I spoke to dad and since he's a sucker for lost animals, here we have a new addition to our family! My Cuca (black cocker spaniel) couldn't be more jealous but she's always like that. I hate that we need to have her chained cuz she never learned to behave otherwise >_>; This new pup is free to wander the backyard. She still needs a name. Cuz I've been watching Once Upon a Time I thought of 'Emma' but grandma says it's a person's name and wanted 'Linda' instead which is also...a person's name XD (Not here, here it means 'beautiful') But hm...not so sure. Er, suggestions?
But, yeah, unfortunately it's not the first time I see an abandoned animal in that area and people are abandoning their pets more and more these days.
She was following my grocery bag home lol.
Pretty eyes, pretty eyes (I was tempted to call her olive but our equivalent is an ugly word. Hm...Olivia? She sure is thin...)
She wanted to follow me into the house. Oh and the pretty collar she's wearing is one I'd found in a drawer. It was meant for Cuca but I can always get her another one.

Don't forget to share your favorite gamer moments on at 3 p.m. PST for Free For All Friday (FFAF).
That shall forever be Zack Fair from Final Fantasy VII Compilation. The guy is just sunshine on legs and an hyperactive puppy. Good combo.
Ugh perfect winter day complete with fog and cold (like the last few days) except it brought the sweet extra of rain today. Joy =|
Been tending to chores such as change the bed sheets (including my dad's, else he wouldn't change it for ages again) and, SOB, my shower rail finally broke for good (it'd been literally hanging for weeks now.) As fate has it I'd bought a pretty shower curtain yesterday with cherry blossoms (8D) so it means I can wash the old one. But I still need to pin the new rails up there. Hm I wonder where dad hid his Black&Decker... (Oh dear, Kyrie drilling walls. I think I'll take care of my life insurance first, or should I be worried about the bathroom wall instead? |D;)
And a gray day like this just begs for a PS2 couch potato. I do need to be close to the washing room cuz I have that much laundry to do. Now, either back to playing FFXII (if I even remember how and I still got the hardest quests to complete orz. Damn mazes...) or perhaps I'll try the undub version of Legaia2. Far from a quality game and the battles are too hard and the only decent character interaction you get is through the optional cooking but heck if I don't miss it. Plus, the Jap voices don't sound as horrid as the dubbed version. Else, I could try the first Legend of Legaia game that dates back to ancient PSX. Man, how I enjoyed that game along with the first Wild Arms (so much lego pixels, yet I never managed to get into FFVII. Go figure.) ANd then there is always Breath of Fire IV which is just...wow. So glad they didn't have time to translate the voices and left the original japanese ones. Good gaming times, man.
What is your favorite smell?
Nature: I like the smell of grass and earth after Summer rain and the smell of jasmins. Also, lavender, definitely (we have some wild growing in the small woods behind my house.) Tree bark.
Food: I like the smell of coffee (not burnt
coffee kthnx) and hot milk (even if I don't like the taste.) Bkaing bread is heaven too (especially if you're hungry lol.)
Others: the smell you get when you open a freshly printed book or magazine (you know, that 'new' scent?); puppies! (no, really 8D)
So, last night I went to bed at 1am as I watched most of Season 1 of The Walking Dead
. I must say, it's quite a good series for end-of-the-world-zombie-apocalypse type. ( Cut for spoilers for Season One. Please don't spoil Season Two for me...Collapse )
And now I'm curious to read the book. There is a book, right? Hey, I read Blindness - nothing gonna squick me as hard anymore.
I also got Thor
to watch, if only because I heard Thor and Loki are highly shippable
yes my reasons are all solid.
And among all this I'm forbidden to eat popcorn by my dentist. Crap.
Just posting this in case anyone's curious about the Portuguese version of Hellfire. It's such a great song of Hunchback of Notre Dame. Too bad I was only acquainted with the original
not too long ago (thanks to Mysti~)
But I must say the Portuguese dubs did a very good work in most Disney's movies, songs included. But we didn't start having dubs in PT until about 1995 - up till then we only had Brasil Portuguese available for Disney movies. They also did a good job in some songs (the Little Mermaid
comes to mind.)
Of course as a kid I never understood what Frollo (or Frodo as some called him in the comments xD;;) was singing about. I was more in awe with the chorus of the ominous figures in red than what he was 'barking' about xD; Always appreciated the songs, though.
Also loved the tragic intro to the movie.
And I had no idea how that gipsy jester was called xD; (He has the same voice in PT as Timon of Lion King lol)
I was always more scared of Frollo's horse than the man himself too. Tsk tsk Frollo, you fail to scare little kids.
What is your favorite Disney movie?
Well, in my case the 'happiest' part is highly arguable as it is, in fact, The Lion King.
Also like Hunchback of Nortre Dame.
Less tragic ones, I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast.
Belle was always my fave Disney princess cuz she liked books too and was, like, the only princess with auburn hair as well. Also, in that movie at least she had a reason to fall in love with the prince as she got to know him. And, wow, a prince with an attitude! Bratty, true, but still a personality - as opposed to your regular 'hero' model. Guess even as a kid I was always logical |D;
Speaking of most recent movies I just love the hysterical thing that is Emperor's New Groove
, I enjoyed Atlantis
quite a bit and Wall-E
is just adorable.
I just reviewed this album at Play.com so I'll just copy paste my impression here:An alternative approach to Coldplay...
I definitely see why fans feel divided about this new album. While rather different from the amazing Viva la Vida in its celebration of life and death, Mylo Xyloto definitely breathes an alternative almost playful side to the band's usual themes.
It's different from what we're used from Coldplay but you can still hear a familiarity to it. If I had to compare it to other bands, I'd say some tracks have a remarkable Sigur Ros feel to them, what with the metallic echo sounds and chorus in some select tracks. The duo with Rihana was done well, against (many) dreaded expectations.
Overall, a different approach to a great band in an album that (I feel) gathers a little piece from every corner of the world. Not their best work, but you shouldn't let these words discourage you if you're a true fan. Also, they've set their bar high with their last album, so it will be difficult to break those odds.
Other than that, the album art is rather well accomplished - still abstract and perhaps a tad too colorful but I'd say it goes well with the music itself. The lack of lyrics kinda irked me because I always liked to be able to follow the songs but, at the same time, if we go with the Sigur Ros comparison, you can understand they just want us to feel
the music rather than be worried about the words.
That or they're saving up on printing ;)
Favourite tracks so far include: Paradise
, Up with the birds
(especially the last half) and Charlie Brown:
Of course, I could be wrong with my access as I haven't read anything on the album's meaning.
We've been having some thunderstorms in this last day here. Eeesh just around 6am (I was in bed reading lol) there was such a loud thunder, it really felt as if something ripped open in the sky and earth. I wish I had seen it, must have been an amazing lightning.
Yesterday I started watching Natsume Yuujinchou. It's interesting, a sort of mix between Mushishi and xxxHOLiC (at least the kid ain't a spazz like Watanuki |D;) I'd read part of the manga already and learned there was an anime too.
But, oi, is [ainex] one of the worst fansubbers I've ever seen. I know that as fan
subs, it's a hobby for people to translate things and my problem ain't even the translations but rather the *massive* Translators Notes they leave in the subs such as:
Yeah, it can be useful to have extra info but why not leave that note in the end of the episode (like the rather nice xxxHOLiC fansubbers did) or put it as an extra sub above? It's also unnecssary trying to explain part of the plot in the subs (as they try to do) when the viewer will most likely understand things as they watch. We're not that dumb kthanx >_>;
Then there are unnecessary crossfandom comments such as thus:
Wow same name as a Naruto character. Totally relevant for this anime, am I right?
But THIS is where I draw the line. I mean WTF is this? Why make such an unnecessary stupid racist comment like this? Please grow up.
Needless to say, I'm downloading different subs right now. *sigh*
What do you like to collect?
Free postcards! You know, of the type that just advertise brands or events? I have nearly 100 of them (I stored them in a photo album, so I really keep count.) They're mostly available at college but I've seen them in other places. I called this album 'Postcards from Far Away' =p
Here's an example:
And, lol, there are some from a subway publicity that I hope are available. They're rather humorific comics to basically make people act more civic. Such as:
We have the habit to call rude people 'bears'. I think they're the equivalent to 'trolls.' Well, either way, the artist made it all the more literal in their work ;)
