Semi Friends Only

This journal is semi friends only. Meaning that anything related to my life is F-locked. Everything manga and fandom related is public. So, with that in mind, comment in this entry if you wish to know me better. I will consider adding you. Most of the times when a random person adds me I won't add back. They will have access to any fandom entries nonetheless.

»» If you add me with a journal that has no entries whatsoever or that I suspect to be spam or bots you will be banned. Especially if you haven't told me you were gonna friend me. Sorry, guys, been having random spammers adding me

Ring of Fayth

So, went to watch The Hobbit today. I'd read the book earlier this year. I can't quite say if they followed it faithfully (most likely they added a few things as there was at least ine character I did not remember and some scenes I wasn't expecting.)

And just like that my TLoR fangirl is back. Never managed to read the books, but I do have every nice long fic stored away to read in the PSP. Mostly of the Aragorn Legolas and Gimly friendship type (this is one fandom I cannot stand slash ships in), but others also include the fellowship. So, if anyone would like to rec some nice long fics that respect characterization, this is your chance! *grins*

Some of my favourite authors include LegolassQ, Evergreene and Thundera Tiger just so you have an idea of what I like. Thundera Tiger's While the Ring Went South is a particularly good story that follows the fellowship in the first leg of their journey.

Back to The Hobbit, I don't wanna spoil anyone but I can't quite help but share the amazing ending song.

Liv update

Finally took Liv to the vet. Yes, it took this long to persuade dad. That and it was the third time she developed this insistent cough, so enough was enough. The doctor was rather nice. Gave her only the shot against kennel cough cuz it's the only safe vaccine they can administrate when an animal is sick (and we're not sure if she is or not.) Her temperature was stable and she didn't have any other symptoms. We're to administrate some antibiotics (hah it's gonna be a show) just in case there are any parasites in her lungs. They tested her for heart parasites and she's clean of those (thank goodness.) I'm also to give her some meds for regular digestive tract parasites. Damned buggers. We're to return in a month to check her overall health and to get her her other vaccines. Overall it wasn't that expensive at all. In fact, I think it was cheaper than a person going to a clinic these days... And she behaved really well, even if she was getting impatient by the end of it. Such a good, smart girl.

At your Door

So...after several months (a year, really) I finall watched Six Feet Under finale. I must say, wow. I am speechless. Never before has any type of ending on TV or otherwise (screw Titanic, that crap did nothing for me) has hit me so hard.

Well. Have some music here. New album from that Portuguese singer, David Fonseca. He sings mostly in English, you'd never guess the man isn't native speaker (at least I don't detect any obvious accent). This album's called Seasons Falling - it's a companion to the one editted in March, Seasons Rising. Overall more contemplative and more emotional. This is one of my favourites from it.

Dead Boy's Poem

Not sure if I'd mentioned before but I'm back to listening to Nightwish (with Tarja Turunen, mind). I also watched the two 'new' Evangelion movies recently. That reminded me of this great AMV. It's already a couple years old but it gotta be the best AMV I've seen out there. A bit Shinji/Asuka but I don't think the pairings mind here. Very well accomplished.

Hope you enjoy as much as I do =)

ETA: The lyrics, for those not familiar with the song

Born from silence, silence full of it
A perfect concert my best friend
So much to live for, so much to die for
If only my heart had a home

Sing what you can't say
Forget what you can't play
Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes
Walk within my poetry, this dying music
- My loveletter to nobody

Never sigh for better world
It's already composed, played and told
Every thought the music I write
Everything a wish for the night

Wrote for the eclipse, wrote for the virgin
Died for the beauty the one in the garden
Created a kingdom, reached for the wisdom
Failed in becoming a god

Never sigh for better world
It's already composed, played and told
Every thought the music I write
Everything a wish for the night

"If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse, songmaker's cry the one without tears
For I've given this its strength and it has become my only strength.
Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality
Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life"

"Teach me passion for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
I'm sorry
Time will tell [this bitter farewell]
I live no more to shame nor me nor you

And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..."

A lonely soul... An ocean soul...

(no subject)

I am certain some (if not all) of you are familiar with that warm fuzzy feeling that makes you want to throw a piece of equipment out the window. In my case my target is my...secular printer, which won't stop printing test pages every time I turn the power on. Because clearly HP cartridges are so cheap it can waste ink like that >_>; Just gdiaf. It's refusing to print anything else atm. Hm, I wonder if college admin will believe in me not paying the first part of my fees because my printer held them hostage xD Hey it would be a peculiar story for sure! (I'm certain they've heard their share of nice stories).

Hm speaking of college, utter madness starts in 2 weeks and I still haven't managed to buy my bookshelf. I was eying one earlier today but I thought it was expensive (plus it was all badly assembled at the store. I know those aren't meant for the customers and are just a sample but, heck, they could put some effort into making it look nice, no?)

I'm back to listening to Nightwish, it seems. Their songs were with me during college years (well, a lot of musics were since I always loved music). I've taken to listening to OSTs at work on Youtube (bless random playlists). The one from Evangelion 2.0 is nice, with some added chorus that remind me of Bleach. I only now watched the most recent movies of Evangelion (back to mega angst series, yeah). I thought it was some nice remakes with some extra added scenes. I like how they didn't update the looks of the series much (except for that shiny blue angel that had some extra nice effects) and it still looks like a 90's anime, yep. Although I do notice in some of the voices (like Asuka's) how the voice cast have aged, understandably. I expect it feels odd when you hear older voices in characters that still have the same age (hey, fictional). I really noticed it in Yuna in Dissidia.

Heyh, non-work related post =)

At the core

So, like I said, I am rewatching old anime I had converted to PSP format. Mostly Mushishi by now (I am attempting to convert Tiger&Bunny but for some reason some episodes don't agree with the converter). I must say Mushishi (fan made intro) gotta be one of my favourite anime/manga. I love legends and supernatural stuff to begin with (like xxxHOLiC, for example) and this anime has a touch of science and mystery while being set in old time Japan (except Ginko dresses like a westerner) so it's very interesting. Add to them the very good animation quality and, yup, very nice anime and a definite change from your regular anime type. The OST is also nice and creepy.

For regular anime type of shounen or shoujo action there is Tiger&Bunny. It might appear too trashy at first (I know it did to me) but there is a deeper meaning to it and I believe the viewer can relate to many of the characters' troubles. Despite being super heroes every character has very realistic problems that makes them all the more humane. I hear they are making a movie and I have heard rumors of a second season. It feels like a small eternity since I watched this and definitely not just last year.

And I hear they are making a remake of Sailor Moon. Not sure how I feel about that since it's an anime series I grew up with. Doesn't really have much meaning now as it did when I was a kid but now there are some serious hardcore fans of the manga too (which I never read). I'm usually not very fond of remakes, though. We shall see. I did watch some seasons in Japanese on Youtube back in the day when they didn't delete things by copyright claim.
